Captain Brooke Stelly

Captain of Administrative

Captain Brooke Stelly began her career with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office in 2005 when she was hired as a deputy tax collector. After proving to be invaluable to VPSO, she was promoted to Human Resources manager in 2015 and later rose to the rank of Civil Major in January of 2024.

Captain Stelly is a lifelong resident of Vermilion Parish. She graduated from Kaplan High School in 1993 then attended LSU-Eunice before beginning her 19-year career at the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office.

Captain Stelly has been trained in administrative supervision, financial management, and human resources through the Government Finance Officers Association of Louisiana. She also participated in the Louisiana Legislative Auditor through the Center for Local Government Excellence.

Captain Stelly's 30 years in accounting and insurance services and her governmental training play a vital role in the day-to-day operations at the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office.

Divisions & Units

Administrative encompasses several divisions and units, each responsible for a specific area of the Sheriff's Office operations.

Civil Process

The Civil Process department is responsible for serving and executing all civil process documents issued by the courts, including subpoenas, citations, restraining orders, eviction notices, and other legal documents. Our deputies ensure that all civil process is served in a timely and professional manner.

Tax Collection

As the constitutionally designated tax collector for Vermilion Parish, the Sheriff's Office is responsible for the collection of ad valorem (property) taxes. Our tax collection office processes payments, issues receipts, and works with property owners to ensure compliance with Louisiana tax laws.

Records
