Overview
Enforcement is the largest department of the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office, responsible for all patrol and field operations throughout the parish. Under the direction of Captain Glenn Landry, our dedicated deputies work tirelessly to maintain public safety, enforce the law, and build meaningful relationships with the community we serve.
From routine patrol to specialized units, every member of Enforcement is committed to the highest standards of professionalism and service. Our deputies undergo continuous training to stay current with the latest law enforcement techniques and best practices.

Captain Glenn Landry
Captain of Patrol
Captain Landry began his law enforcement career at the age of 38, after 20 years in the oilfield. In November of 1999, Captain Landry joined the Lafayette Police Department as a patrol deputy. During his tenure at the Lafayette Police Department, Captain Landry also worked as a SWAT officer and a detective in the Criminal Investigations Division. He served in the street narcotics unit ACTION and in an administrative capacity as precinct resource officer. Captain Landry retired at the rank of sergeant with 22 years of service.
Captain Landry is a graduate of Erath High School and has successfully completed 40 hours of law enforcement related college credits as well as the Public Agency Training Council (PATC) course on the Leader Institute for First Line Supervisors.

Enforcement encompasses several specialized divisions and units, each dedicated to a specific aspect of public safety.
Patrol Operations
Our patrol deputies are the backbone of Enforcement, providing 24/7 coverage across Vermilion Parish. Deputies respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, conduct proactive patrol, and serve as the first line of contact between the community and the Sheriff's Office.

School Resource Officers
Our School Resource Officers (SROs) are specially trained deputies assigned to schools across Vermilion Parish. They provide a safe learning environment, build positive relationships with students, and serve as mentors and educators.

K-9 Unit
The VPSO K-9 Unit features highly trained handler-dog teams that assist in narcotics detection, tracking, search and rescue, and suspect apprehension. Our K-9 teams are valuable assets in both patrol and investigative operations.

Marine Patrol
With Vermilion Parish's extensive waterways, our marine patrol unit enforces boating safety laws, conducts search and rescue operations on water, and provides security along our coastal areas and inland waterways. The unit also includes a dive team trained in underwater search and recovery operations.

D.A.R.E. Program
The Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program is taught by certified VPSO deputies in Vermilion Parish schools. The program empowers young people with the knowledge and skills to resist drugs, alcohol, and violence.
