Youth Program
Building positive relationships between Vermilion Parish youth and law enforcement.

About the Youth Program
Centered on building positive relationships between law enforcement and Vermilion Parish youth through hands-on engagement and community interaction, Sheriff Langlinais' Youth Program emphasizes mentorship, safety awareness, and trust. It provides young people with opportunities to connect with deputies, learn about law enforcement, and develop respect for community service.
Junior Citizens Academy
VPSO's Junior Citizens Academy introduces Vermilion Parish youth to the Sheriff's Office through a three-day program for 7th–12th grade students. Participants gain hands-on experience with the Enforcement, Investigations, Civil, and Corrections Divisions and complete a boater safety course.
An optional third day offers hunter education through the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. While typically held over multiple days, this course is condensed into one 10-hour session. Participants may choose to attend only the first two days if preferred.
Participants will receive certificates for each day of training, with lunch and snacks provided throughout the program.
