Blair Dore, Chief Deputy
Chief Blair Dore’s law enforcement career began at the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office in the 1980s when he worked as a reserve deputy under Sheriff Ray LeMaire before moving to the Lafayette Police Department in 1992.
Chief Dore served in many roles at the Lafayette Police Department (LPD). He began his career at LPD as a Patrol Officer and later served as Field Training Officer, Patrol Support Captain, and Patrol Division Commander. He also served as a Narcotics Agent, Intelligence Supervisor, Criminal Investigations Supervisor, and the Services Division Commander.
Throughout his tenure, Chief Dore was also part of the Street Crimes Unit and SWAT Team. He was on the SWAT Team for 28 years and was SWAT Commander when he departed. He also held the title of Region 2 Director for the Southern Law Enforcement Foundation, where he coordinated critical incident debriefings for law enforcement personnel in 17 parishes.
Chief Dore holds several certifications as Tactical Operations Instructor, Security Assessment Specialist, and Crime Prevention Specialist, and was an instructor in Specialty Impact and Chemical Munitions for over 20 years.
Chief Dore is a graduate of Erath High School. He holds a Certificate of Technical Studies in Evidence Recovery Technology from LSU-Eunice and is a graduate of the FBI Leadership Trilogy. In 2014 Chief Dore was chosen to attend the FBI National Academy Session 255 in Quantico, VA, and in 2023 he was inducted into the Louisiana First Responders Law Enforcement Hall of Fame.
Chief Dore retired from the Lafayette Police Department as a Major with over 31 years of service. He later rejoined the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office in 2024 when he was commissioned by Sheriff Eddie Langlinais to serve Vermilion Parish as his Chief Deputy.
