Elderly Assistance Program
Sheriff Eddie Langlinais and the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office recognizes that there is a large population of elderly citizens in Vermilion, many of whom live alone, and understands that there is a great need for positive interactions with these citizens. Sheriff Eddie Langlinais was a first-hand witness to just how many elderly residents within Vermilion live alone when he walked the Parish, visiting with and meeting its citizens prior to being elected Sheriff. It is for this reason that Sheriff Langlinais initiated the development of the Elderly Assistance Program (EAP).
The sole purpose of the Elderly Assistance Program (EAP) is to check on and visit Vermilion’s elderly residents who may not regularly receive visits. EAP deputies have compiled a list of more than 1,000 residents who are over the age of eighty-five (85) and are devoting their days to visiting each one. These deputies are committed to learning the needs of each individual resident and determining how often follow-up visits will be conducted for each. Because dedicated time is being devoted to such a large number of residents across the 1,200 square miles that make up Vermilion Parish, the EAP will expand to our younger residents on a case-by-case basis until our deputies have visited those already identified.
If you have a family member whom you would like added to our current list of residents, please fill out the following form. Please note that by completing the “Elderly Assistance” form, you are agreeing to the following:
