Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office Citizen's Academy
The next Vermilion Parish Citizen’s Academy will be hosted in the Spring of 2026. There, participating Vermilion Parish citizens will get a firsthand look at Sheriff’s Office operations.
The Citizen’s Academy will meet weekly on Wednesdays for five weeks and will culminate with a Saturday graduation event with hands-on activities. The program will take participants through the process of becoming a Deputy Sheriff and explore many facets of Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office operations.
Participants will finish the program by participating in a “range day” before being presented with a certificate from Sheriff Eddie Langlinais, signifying their graduation from the Vermilion Parish Citizen’s Academy.
The Spring 2026 Citizen’s Academy will meet weekly on Wednesdays from 5:30pm to 8:00pm and will culminate in one final session and participant graduation on a Saturday.
- April 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, & 29th from 5:30pm to 8:00pm
- May 2nd from 8:00am to 1:00pm
The program is free and open to residents of Vermilion Parish 18 years of age and older. Prospective members must pass a basic background check prior to enrollment, be free of any felony convictions, and possess and supply a copy of their current Louisiana driver’s license or Louisiana identification card reflecting their current address. Of applicants who pass the background check, 20 will be chosen to participate in order of when applications are received.

A Sheriff’s Office representative will contact applicants upon receiving a successful background check and inform them of admission into the Citizen’s Academy.
