Louisiana Law, Revised Statute 15:571.11 mandates the Sheriff to collect fines and court costs within his parish. The Sheriff collects the fines and court costs and then distributes them as follows for traffic tickets:
TRAFFIC FINE AND FEE DISBURSEMENT
Money collected from Traffic Fines is divided as follows:
- 76% Vermilion Parish Police Jury
- 12% Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office
- 12% District Attorney
Money collected from Traffic Court Costs is divided as follows:
- $5.50 Parish Gov Gen Fund
- $10.00 Parish Gov Witness
- $15.00 Parish Gov Jury
- $12.50 Sheriff's Office
- $45.00 IDO
- $30.00 Crime Lab
- $15.00 Clerk of Court
- $5.00 Jud Exp
- $2.00 LA Com LCLE Act 440
- $20.00 District Attorney
- $3.00 State LA CMIS
- $0.50 LA Supreme Court Exp
- $5.00 Crime Stop
Some Traffic court costs might include:
- $5.00 LA Rehab
